MQHZ CALLS FOR HEALTH PERSONNEL TO PRIORITIZE PATIENT CARE

The Medical Quality Healthcare Zambia (MQHZ) has urged all health personnel to prioritize patient care, by sharing vital information about medications, treatment plans, and medical conditions.

MQHZ Director General, Quince Mwabu, says healthcare professionals have a duty to empower patients with knowledge, enabling them to take charge of their health.

Dr. Mwabu said withholding information from patients can have devastating consequences, including medication mismanagement and worsening conditions.

“The World Health Organization emphasizes that informed patients are 1.5 times more likely to adhere to treatment plans, leading to better health outcomes, but a recent study reveals that 60% of patients in Zambia are not informed about their medications, said Dr. Mwabu in  a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He has therefore called on all health personnel to prioritize transparency and openness in their interactions with patients.
