Opposition Zambia Wake Up Party (ZAWAPA) President, Howard Kunda, says the failure by the Ministry of Health to mention the Mealie Meal brands that contain aflatoxin is a sign of failed leadership by government.
Mr. Kunda joins other stakeholders in urging government to disclose the brands of mealie meal and maize products currently on the market, that are suspected of causing the deaths of dogs and potentially humans.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Kunda says it is unacceptable for government to subject citizens to speculation on a matter that affects the health status of the country.
“Government should provide information on which Mealie Meal brand contains aflatoxins and caused the death of dogs for the protection of its people,” said Mr. Kunda.
He said that it is unfortunate government is protecting business entities at the expense of Zambians.
