The Zambia Metrological Department (ZMD) has refuted reports that it has issued the weather forecast for the 2024 -2025 rain season.
There have been reports circulating on social media of the newly announced weather forecast for the next rain season.
But Metrological Department, Senior Meteorologist, Peggy Thole, says the article is not from the Zambia Metrological Department or Southern African Development Community Department (SADC) weather department.
“The technical working group to ascertain the forecast began sitting yesterday in Zimbabwe to analyse data for the region before coming up with a regional forecast,” said Ms. Thole in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said that the regional forecast will be issued towards month-end, saying that the department will now analyse and downscale the Zambian scenario of the forecast and the final statement will be issued in September.
