Mpika Constituency Member of Parliament, Francis Kapyanga, has urged ZESCO to immediately reconnect the power supply to the Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company’s headquarters.
The challenges at Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company have reached a crisis point, exacerbated by the ongoing loadshedding, which has resulted in inadequate water supply to meet the demand of Mpika residents.
In a statement to RCV News today, Mr. Kapyanga said areas such as Chitulika, Muffsite, Serela, Yohani, Chibansa, and New Town have gone without water for up to two months, causing immense hardship and suffering for the people.
“The water challenge posed by loadshedding may lead to the outbreak of diseases, and it is imperative that we act swiftly to prevent this”, said Mr. Kapyanga.
He said the situation requires immediate attention and action from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.
Meanwhile, the Mpika Law Maker has urged government to increase power imports to reduce the loadshedding time and ensure a stable power supply.
