The Water Resource Management Authority, (WARMA), has attributed the drying up of boreholes in Lusaka and other surrounding areas, to the effects of the drought.
WARMA Acting Director General, Misozi Lumpa, said this in Lusaka today, when she featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, “protection of water resources amidst the drought”
Mrs. Lumpa said underground water levels have dropped by 50% countrywide.
“The drought and the fact that boreholes are drilled close to each other is the main reason boreholes are drying up”, said Mrs. Lumpa.
She has therefore underscored the need to upscale protection efforts of underground water sources to ensure citizens have enough water for domestic use.
