The National Legal Aid Clinic for Women (NLACW) has validated its draft Strategic Plan for 2024-2028, aimed at empowering underprivileged and vulnerable women and children to gain fair and equal access to legal rights and representation.
Over the past 34 years, NLACW has been offering legal aid services to marginalized women and children, including survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Lusaka today, NLACW Executive Director, Mandy Manda, emphasized that legal representation is a key focus of the new strategic plan as it seeks to uphold the rights of women and children through legal aid services, including legal advice, mediation, psychological counselling, and court representation.
Ms. Manda said that the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan also addresses various family laws, including mental health issues, GBV, and poverty.
“Our goal is to provide timely legal aid services and enhance community awareness about the rights of women and children,” said Ms. Manda.
She has also urged stakeholders, including the media, to collaborate with the clinic in addressing issues related to women and children’s rights.
