GOVT URGES CITIZENS TO EMBRACE PHYSICAL FITNESS

Government has encouraged citizens to embrace physical fitness by joining clubs that promote healthy lifestyles.

Speaking when he officiated at the launch of the FNB Kopala Run in Lusaka today, Minister of Youth, Sports and Arts, Elvis Nkandu said government will continue to provide an enabling environment for all sports disciplines in the country to encourage participation in healthy activities.

Mr. Nkandu said the FNB Kopala Run initiative slated for 20th July, 2024 in Kitwe, Copperbelt Province, should be emulated to promote a healthy nation.

Speaking at the same event, Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo said he is delighted that the event has been taken to the province for the first time.

Mr. Matambo has appealed to residents in the province to turn up in numbers and participate in the run as it will also enhance their health.

And FNB Chief Executive Officer Kapumpe Chola said the Kopala Run initiative is inclusive, covering critical categories including that of persons with disabilities.

Ms. Chola said this will promote sports diversity in the country that will also enhance participation, leaving no one behind
