The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has assured the Labor Sector that the ongoing review of the Employment Code Act No.3 of 2019 is taking a robust consultative process.
Acting Permanent Secretary Zechariah Luhanga said this during the special stakeholders consultative meeting, which arose out of necessity to address the gaps and challenges revealed following the implementation and enforcement of the Employment Code Act No. 3 of 2019.
Mr. Luhanga said government is committed to eradicating the rigidities of the Act, that impede the smooth functioning of businesses and enterprises.
“The Ministry acknowledges the significance of collaboration and social dialogue in addressing the gaps,” said Mr. Luhanga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Mr. Luhanga said government is delighted with the overwhelming participation in the consultations by social partners and other stakeholders who are participating in the review process.
Speaking at the same event, Country Office Director for Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, Wellington Chibebe, said the world of work is undergoing significant transformation which is influenced by various trends, that are reshaping the landscape of employment and corporate structure.
“The trends among others, are shaping a new world of work that demands adaptability, continuous learning and a focus on skills and productivity,” said Mr. Chibebe.
