President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the Zambia Institute of Public Relations (ZIPRC) to ensure that Public Relations officers PROs in local authorities sensitize members of the public about government’s development programs.
The President said this in a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Information and Media Cornelius Mweetwa at the 2024 13th ZIPRC conference being held in Livingstone under theme, “Innovate and elevate, shaping the future of Public Relations in Zambia”.
Mr. Hichilema said PR Practitioners should inform the public about the opportunities available for them including the availability of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
“The role of PROs in local authorities has been expanded and is needed more during this particular time”, said Mr. Hichilema
Speaking at the same event the ZIPRC President Ireen Chipili said the institute is ready to serve as a trusted advisor to government on communication issues.
