Bank of Zambia has commenced the issuance of the new K100 and K50 banknotes under the Heritage Series, while simultaneously beginning the withdrawal of the old K100 and K50 denominations from circulation.
Recently, BoZ announced that staring 1st September 2025 it will begin the issuance of newly upgraded K50 and K100 banknotes.
BoZ Assistant Director Communications, Besnat Mwanza, says that the withdrawal of these old notes is being carried out in accordance with the provisions of Statutory Instrument No. 9 of 2025, issued by the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Situmbeko Musokotwane.
“With this milestone, we have now completed the full rollout of the Heritage Series banknotes into circulation”, said Ms. Mwanza in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
