The Lusaka City Council (LCC) says more than 200 traders are set to benefit from newly constructed trading spaces at Mobile Market, located in Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward 12 of Kanyama Constituency.
LCC says the market shelter which will officially commissioned this week, was built at a cost of K1,600,000 through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), offers a safe and conducive environment for traders to operate their businesses.
In a statement issued to RCV News today, LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager Nyambe Bulumba said previously, traders in the area were exposed to harsh weather conditions, scorching sun and heavy rains, hindering the smooth running of their operations.
“The structure is expected to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks, including cholera,” said Mr. Bulumba.
He has therefore urged traders to safeguard the facility against vandalism to ensure its longevity and preserve it for future generations.
Mr. Bulumba said the Council remains committed to promoting entrepreneurship in Lusaka by investing in infrastructure that supports safe and dignified trading environments.
