SELECTIVE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION WORRYING – TEMBO

Tonse Alliance Spokesperson, Sean Tembo, has warned that the fight against corruption will continue to fail, if it remains selective and politically biased.

Mr. Tembo said the recent revelations from a forensic audit into suspected corruption at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA), are a clear sign that the government is reluctant to tackle present-day corruption.

Addressing the media in Lusaka today, Mr. Tembo, who is also President of the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP), said the audit report had revealed names of individuals involved in corrupt activities who should be immediately arrested.

“It is sad that the fight against corruption is not targeting the individuals mentioned in the audit report and this selective application is damaging public trust,” said Mr. Tembo.

He added that the level of corruption uncovered at ZAMMSA is alarming and must be urgently addressed and curtailed to restore credibility to public procurement processes.
