KATEKA CONCERNED WITH LOW PUBLIC DISCOURSE ON CONSTITUTION

New Heritage Party President, Chishala Kateka, has expressed concern over the limited public discourse surrounding the proposed constitutional amendments.

Speaking on Christian Voice’s Chatback program on the topic, Is the Nation Moving in the Right Direction Under the UPND Leadership, Ms. Kateka said she had expected government to facilitate widespread consultations, especially on the non-contentious clauses.

“Today, the bill is expected to be published in the government Gazette, but prior to this, there has been very little engagement to ensure that Zambians fully understand the proposed non-contentious clauses,” said Ms. Kateka.

Ms. Kateka warned that continued failure to adequately consult the public could result in the rejection of the proposed amendments, ultimately leading to a waste of valuable national resources.
