The Scientific Initiatives for a Health and Developed Zambia (SIHDZ) has called on the government to prioritize citizen participation in the national budget planning process to promote transparency, accountability, and more effective service delivery.
Speaking to RCV News in Lusaka today, Leader of Operations, Frank Malunga, emphasized that inclusive engagement, particularly from vulnerable and marginalized communities, is essential in identifying priority areas for funding and responding to emerging challenges.
“In light of the recent funding setbacks in the health sector through the national budget process, the government must adopt a more transparent and inclusive approach,” said Mr. Malunga.
He added that meaningful public consultation can lead to more informed decision-making, equitable resource allocation, and stronger public confidence in government processes.
Mr. Malunga further noted that the ongoing crisis in the Ministry of Health should serve as a wake-up call for government to adopt a more prudent, participatory, and people-cantered approach in managing public resources.
