Family Federation for World Peace Executive Director, Isaac Phiri, has described this year’s International Day of Families commemorated today , 15 May, 2025, as a reminder of the essential role families play in shaping nations and fostering resilient communities.
Mr. Phiri said the 2025 theme, “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development,” emphasizes the urgent need to restore and reinforce the extended family’s foundational role in national development.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Phiri said noted that the significance of the day should not be overlooked, as it draws attention to the critical function of families.
“This day should set the tone for building strong, resilient families that fully understand and embrace their role in advancing national development and sustaining peace at both local and global levels,” said Mr. Phiri.
He further called on government to incorporate education on family values and responsibilities into the national curriculum, as a way of nurturing a morally upright society rooted in Christian principles.
