LCC POLICE ARREST 56 FOR ILLEGAL STREET TRADING

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) police has apprehended 56 vendors for trading in undesignated areas.

The Local Authority has also confiscated assorted goods from the vendors which include fresh vegetables, second-hand clothes and alcohol, among others, which were being sold in undesignated areas within the Central Business District (CBD)

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager Nyambe Bulumba told RCV News in a statement today that the 56 affected traders are yet to appear before the Fast Track Court at the Civic Centre this afternoon.

“The Council will continue to enforce regulations on street vending to promote orderliness in the business community,” said Mr. Bulumba.

He has since urge traders to refrain from conducting business in undesignated areas to avoid being in conflict with the law and further advised traders to always engage with the Council to secure trading spaces in designated areas.
