MOZAMBICAN MILITARY HAILS ZAMBIA’S ROLE IN SADC MISSION

Visiting Mozambican Chief of Defence Intelligence Brigadier General Ricardo Macuvele has thanked Zambia for having deployed soldiers to the Mozambican Province of Cabo Delgado when it was overrun by Islamist rebels.

Brigadier General Macuvele says Zambia’s deployment of troops under the Southern African Development Community Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) was very effective in combating the rebels who have since been defeated.

In  a statement issued to RCV News by  Ministry of Defence Principal Public Relations Officer Paul Shalala, Brigadier General Macuvele said Mozambique was freed from terrorism and that Zambia helped a lot to contain the situation.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr. Maambo Haamaundu in Lusaka.

And Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr. Maambo Haamaundu said Zambia stands in solidarity with Mozambique against terrorists.

Mr. Haamaundu also praised the Mozambican people for their resilience during their difficult time.

He  further said the two countries must work together to fight transnational crimes and human trafficking.
