The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has called on Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, to update the nation on the list of 2,400 teachers expected to be recruited through the replacement process.
On March 19, 2025, Mr. Syakalima announced that government would recruit 2,400 additional teachers within two weeks, in addition to the earlier 4,200 teachers recruited.
But Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa, expressed concern over the delay, stating that it is unfair to keep hopeful candidates in suspense.
“There is need for policymakers to be truthful and ensure they deliver on their pronouncements,” said Dr. Chansa.
He further urged the Ministry of Education to uphold transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, adding that delays and lack of communication create unnecessary anxiety among job seekers and the public.
