The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) has called on all political parties to leverage on the call from the president for open dialogue, as the country heads to the 2026 general elections.
Speaking during the burial of the late, Edith Nawakwi, President Hichilema expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue aimed at fostering national unity.
ZCID Executive Director, Doreen Kabwe, said the President’s call comes at a critical moment for the nation, emphasizing that meaningful dialogue has the potential to heal divisions, restore trust among political players, and lay the groundwork for a peaceful and inclusive democratic process.
“In this regard, all political parties and stakeholders are called to embrace this opportunity with sincerity and patriotism, because Zambia’s democracy can only thrive when leaders talk to each other,” said Mrs. Kabwe in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She reaffirmed ZCID’s commitment to its role as a neutral and inclusive platform for interparty dialogue, adding that the Centre is ready to facilitate and support structured engagement between government and opposition parties, guided by the principles of transparency, mutual respect, and national interest.
