PUBLIC URGED TO REPORT CASES OF DEFILEMENT AND INCEST

Zambia Police Superintendent, Brenda Chembe, has urged members of the public to report cases of defilement and incest to the police and other relevant authorities, rather than concealing such incidents, which can have devastating effects on the lives of children.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News, Ms. Chembe emphasized that the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Act empowers individuals to report abuse on behalf of victims, thereby ensuring timely intervention and support.

“Reporting these cases helps protect children and allows them to grow in safe environments where they can reach their full potential,” said Ms. Chembe.

She encouraged communities to take an active role in safeguarding the welfare of children by guiding them through their development and helping them make informed decisions.

Superintendent Chembe also issued a stern warning to perpetrators, stating that the law will take its course against anyone found guilty of abuse.
