5TH CYCLE DISTRIBUTION OF HEALTH CENTRE KITS COMMENCES

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has commenced the 5th cycle distribution of Health Centre kits to over 3500 healthcare facilities across the country.

ZAMMSA Senior Officer -Corporate Communications, Enoch Lusoke says the Agency has effectively shipped 7,000 health centre kits from the ZAMMSA Central Warehouse to all the seven regional hubs where the Last Mile Distribution is currently ongoing.

Mr. Lusoke said the kits are part of a larger consignment of 42,250 kits procured by Zambian Government through ZAMMSA aimed at strengthening the provision of primary healthcare services.

“The distribution of the Kits is expected to take 3 weeks and, is being conducted simultaneously with routine deliveries of bulk assorted essential medicines and medical supplies to Level One, General, Tertiary and Specialized Hospitals,” said Mr Lusoke in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Lusoke said the exercise is poised to, a very large extent, improve the availability of health commodities and enhance the provision of quality healthcare services at all levels of care.

He added that it is expected that the successful distribution of these life-saving commodities will push the availability levels to above 90% at primary healthcare level and 85% at other levels of healthcare.
