Zambia Meteorological Department Senior Meteorologist, Peggy Thole, says the rain forecast for the 2024-2025 rain season will be released in September 2024.
She was responding to concerns from farmers on when they can start early planting for the next farming season.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Ms. Thole has advised farmers to wait until the rain forecast is unveiled at the end of September 2024.
“Firstly, Meteorologists will seat at SADC level between 19 and 25th August 2024, then the department will have a local seating to assess the rain forecast”, said Ms. Thole.
She has therefore advised farmers to wait for the 2024, 2025 rain forecast to enable effective planning for their farming activities.
