The Zambia Union for Persons Living with Disabilities (ZUPLD) has expressed concern with the recent recruitment of Health personal in the Health sector, which it says, did not include people living with disabilities.
On 27 January 2025, government announced the recruitment of 4,000 health workers to be deployed across the country.
But Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Union President, Pascal Mulenga, says it is unfortunate that the union has not recognized any differently abled health personal recruited.
“Unfortunately, this is becoming a trend where people living with disabilities are not prioritized, yet the disability act of 2012 states that half of every recruitment should consider persons living with disabilities”, said Mr. Mulenga.
He has urged government to be more inclusive to persons living with disabilities during their recruitment process in the civil service.
