The Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organization (ZUNMO) has endorsed the recent initiative by the Minister of Health, Elijah Muchima, to promote professionalism within the Ministry of Health.
ZUNMO says the approach aligns closely with its vision of a healthcare system where every nurse and midwife is protected, motivated, and empowered to maintain the highest standards of professional excellence.
In a statement to RCV News today, ZUNMO President Fray Michelo said he believes that professional excellence can only thrive in an environment free from partisan biases, where the focus remains solely on delivering quality healthcare to every individual regardless of race, gender, or political affiliation
“Upholding these values is crucial in building a robust healthcare system that serves the needs of the Zambian people,” said Mr. Michelo.
Mr. Michelo has since encouraged the Minister of Health to uphold the role of Permanent Secretaries and advocate for the interests of all healthcare professionals within the ministry to achieve the crucial goal of delivering the health services that the nation urgently requires.
He said ZUNMO remains dedicated to partnering with the Ministry of Health to cultivate an environment that prioritizes professionalism and ensures equitable, high-quality healthcare for everyone.
