ZPPA SUSPENDS SHUMPE AND SEALS SYSTEMS FROM PUBLIC PROCUREMENT

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has suspended Shumpe Investment Limited and Seals Systems (Z) Limited from participating in public procurement for a period of 1 year for under performance of contractual obligations.

ZPPA Principal Officer Public Relations, Iñutu Mushambatwa, says the suspension of Shumpe Investment Limited and Seals Systems (Z) Limited follows a complaint from the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation for under performance of contractual obligations, in a tender for the construction of waterborne facilities in Copperbelt, Southern, Muchinga and Northern Provinces.

Ms. Mushambatwa says ZPPA  instituted an investigation into the tender and established that the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation signed contracts with Shumpe Investment Limited and Seals Systems (Z) Limited for the construction of  26 waterborne sanitation facilities in Copperbelt, Southern and Muchinga Provinces and 8 waterborne sanitation facilities in Northern Province with a completion period of 12 months.

“ZPPA further established that the two contractors failed to meet the contractual obligations despite being granted an extension of the contracts,” said Ms. Mushambatwa in  a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

She said that Shumpe Investment Limited and Seals Systems (Z) Limited’s suspensions include any “successor in interest” including any entity which employs, or is associated with any partners, directors or other officers considered as successors in interest.
