The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has published the Market Price Index for the First Quarter of 2025.
ZPPA Public Relations officer, Iñutu Mushambatwa has advised procuring entities that prices contained in the Market Price Index are retail prices and Value Added Tax (VAT) inclusive, and the Authority has further advised that in exceptional circumstances data is collected from wholesale outlets for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
“Transport costs from the point of sale to the point of consumption are not included in the Market Price Index,” said Ms. Mushambatwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Ms. Mushambatwa also added that prices of goods, works and services that have been set by respective government institutions shall be considered as the prices to be used for benchmarking purposes and as part of the Market Price Index which includes fuel prices set by the Energy Regulation Board.
She further said that the procurement Act No.8 of 2020 which provides that the authority shall issue a quarterly Market and advised that the issued Market Price Index shall be in effect until the Authority issues the next quarterly Market Price Index.
