The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) says it undertook investigations on various procurement matters, and a total of 23 investigations were undertaken, with 18 investigations concluded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, ZPPA acting Director General, Justine Mutimuna said, among the companies investigated, is Modaka General Trading limited into the tender for the supply and delivery of stationary items to the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA).
Mr. Mutimuna said NAPSA alleged that Modaka General Trading Limited submitted a fabricated NAPSA certificate in the aforesaid tender process and ZPPA established that Modaka General Trading Limited submitted a NAPSA certificate that was not genuine in the tender process.
“In another case, ZPPA investigated a complaint regarding a Mwense Town Council tender for the construction of a 1×3 classroom block, an ablution block, and a water supply system at Musangu Primary School,” said Mr. Mutimuna.
He said that the bidder alleged that Mwense Town Council unfairly disqualified them from the tender, citing a previous contract termination due to poor workmanship and failure to complete the project on time.
Mr. Mutimuna reaffirmed ZPPA’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in Zambia’s procurement processes, emphasizing that all stakeholders must adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements.
