ZP RECORDS DROP IN CRIME AT 2025 SHOW

The Zambia Police Service recorded a total of 65 criminal cases during the 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show held in Lusaka from July 30 to August 4, 2025, where 9 people were arrested for various offenses.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, says majority of the cases involved thefts from persons, which accounted for 53 of the total reports.

Mr. Chilabi said that other cases included 9 General cases of theft , 1 Assault case occasioning actual bodily harm, 1 case of Malicious damage to property and 1 case of Indecent assault on a female.

“Additionally, police recorded 19 contraventions related to conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and most of the offenders in these cases were strongly warned and released, while others opted to pay admission of guilt fines,” said Mr. Chilabi in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that the total value of stolen property was K343,990.00, of which K16,105.00 has been recovered.

Mr. Chilabi said that investigations are ongoing, with further recoveries expected.

He said that notably, there were no reports of motor vehicle theft, theft from vehicles, personation, or forgery , a marked improvement from previous years.
