Zambia Police Service Commissioner for Administration, Susan Malundu, has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to implementing government policies that foster national development and regional security cooperation, in line with Zambia’s foreign policy pillars of Peace, Security and Stability and Economic Diplomacy.

Speaking at the Regional Women Network Champions workshop in South Africa, attended by women leaders from law enforcement agencies, Ms. Malundu emphasized the Zambia Police Service’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and strengthen border management and security.

Ms. Malundu highlighted Zambia’s progress in appointing women to key leadership positions, ensuring a diverse and competent approach to law enforcement and regional security.

“Our strategy integrates gender equality across all facets of Zambian society, reinforcing the government’s vision of inclusive governance and sustainable peace,” said Ms. Malundu in a statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian  Embassy in South Africa, Tamara Nyirenda.

And Chief Investigations Officer at the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), Inutu Soonga, has expressed gratitude to the Zambian government for sponsoring her participation in the workshop, which focused on integrating gender perspectives into harm reduction strategies.

Ms. Soonga described the event as an opportunity to amplify the voices of women and gender minorities, fostering sustainable solutions for policing challenges.

“This platform has strengthened the capacity of women officers through knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement, ultimately enhancing regional security efforts,” she said.
