The Zambia Police Service has strongly condemned the violent aggravated robbery that took place yesterday, February 25, 2025, at approximately 16:20 hours at Lilayi Turn-Off in Chilanga District.
According to Zambia Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, the victims were traveling from Lusaka to Kafue when they were ambushed by four unidentified criminals who had been trailing them in a grey Mark X, bearing registration number BBA 7522, suspected to be fake.
“The assailants opened fire on the victims before robbing them of an undisclosed amount of money and a pistol,” Mr. Hamoonga said in a statement issued to RCV News.
He further disclosed that the victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
The Zambia Police Service has since launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
