ZNUT CALLS FOR INTEGRITY AMONG CIVIL SERVANTS

The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has expressed concern with reports of civil servants abandoning their workstations, opting to engage in gold mining activities in Kasempa district of Northwestern Province.

Union Public Relations Officer, Godwin Maseka, expressed concern, saying that this trend is depriving Zambians of quality service delivery.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Maseka said that civil servants are tasked to enhance service delivery in the public service, adding that their absence is detrimental to the civil service.

“The union wishes to advise the involved civil servants to resign from the service and concentrate on mining activities,” said Mr. Maseka.

He has therefore called on the civil service commission to take keen interest on the matter and punish the erring civil servants.
