ZLA CONCERNED OVER LAND ALLOCATION TO FOREIGNERS

The Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) has expressed concern over the reported allocation of 10, 000 hectares of land to Rwanda by President Hakainde Hichilema.

A video has gone viral on social media in which the Rwandan Ambassador to Zambia is thanking President Hichilema for the land which he said is intended be used for food security cooperation.

ZLA Executive Director, Patrick Musole, told RCV News in a statement that he is concerned about doing so at a time when many Zambians have serious challenges acquiring and securing land, and many more are plagued by land tenure insecurity

“The President’s priority should be to ensure that all Zambians have secured access and ownership of land”, said Mr. Musole.

Mr. Musole has therefore urged Government to amend land related legal frameworks and policies to facilitate the empowerment of Zambian citizens with land for investment.

He has also urged Government to prioritize and finance the national land audit process among others.
