ZIM CRACKS DOWN ON UNLICENSED MARKETERS IN ZAMBIA

Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM)Vice President Policy, Eric Ngondo, has expressed concern over the number of people masquerading as Marketers in the country.

Mr. Ngondo says non-affiliated individuals are practicing the Marketing role in Zambia in violation of the Zambia Institute of Marketing Act No. 2 of 2022.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Ngondo said ZIM will conduct inspections nationwide to ensure that only accredited marketers are employed in marketing roles.

“It an offense to practice Marketing without being affiliated by ZIM as stipulated in the ZIM Act No.2 of 2022”, said Mr. Ngondo.

Mr. Ngondo has urged ZIM members to report instances where non-affiliated individuals are working as marketers and advised organizations to avoid hiring such individuals to prevent legal repercussions.

He has further warned the public that it is an offense to practice marketing without been regulated and that the illegal practice can attract prosecution of not less than 5 years.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ngondo said the Inspectorate Committee has done some inspections in Lusaka and Copperbelt Provinces which has yielded positive results.

He said the Institution has further engaged individuals and organizations visited to ensure they get affiliated and avoid lawlessness.
