ZESCO REDUCES POWER SUPPLY FOLLOWING 150MW DROP IN GENERATION

ZESCO Limited has announced that residential areas across Zambia will now receive only 5 hours of electricity per day, following an emergency shutdown of a generator at Maamba Energy Limited.

In a statement, the power utility revealed that the country has entered Stage 10 load management, the most severe level so far, resulting in 19 hours of load shedding daily.

The shutdown at Maamba has led to a reduction of 150 megawatts in available electricity, further straining an already critical power supply situation.

“During this period of severely constrained supply, customers are advised to use the limited available electricity efficiently,” the statement read.

This development marks a shift from the previous schedule, where residential areas received up to seven hours of power supply daily.
