Minister of Health, Elijah Muchima, has announced that no cholera cases were recorded in Eastern Province during the Nc’wala ceremony in Chipata, which attracted over 200,000 attendees.
Dr. Muchima commended the collaborative efforts that ensured the safety and well-being of the public throughout the event.
Giving an update on the country’s cholera situation today, he revealed that one new case was recorded in the past 24 hours in Chililabombwe, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 301.
“The ministry’s top priority is the swift resolution of this public health crisis and the protection of the people,” said Dr. Muchima.
He emphasized the importance of clean water and proper hygiene practices, reaffirming government’s commitment to combating cholera.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muchima disclosed that the Ministry of Health has administered a total of 133,525 cholera vaccine doses in Chililabombwe, surpassing the initial target of 129,837.
