ZCSA URGES COMPLIANCE AS PRODUCTS CONTINUE TO FLOOD MARKET

The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has expressed concern over the continued presence of non-compliant products on the market, despite ongoing efforts to raise public awareness and enforce regulatory measures.

ZCSA Manager for Communications and Public Relations, Brian Hatyoka, said it is worrying that some individuals persist in supplying substandard products, even after losing income and facing penalties.

He attributed this behaviour to what he described as “defiance and ignorance.”

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Hatyoka emphasized that ignorance is not a valid excuse for breaking the law, urging citizens to act responsibly.

“Despite all the awareness campaigns, penalties, and enforcement actions, there are still people who choose to engage in illegal practices,” said Mr. Hatyoka.

Mr. Hatyoka reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to working closely with other law enforcement bodies to ensure that only safe, compliant, and standardized products are made available to the Zambian public.
