The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has seized 282 crates of expired Mosi Light beer from a named distributor in Ndola, valued at K78, 960.00.
This follows a tip-off from a whistle blower in Ndola’s Pamodzi Township on the sale of expired clear beer contrary to the provisions of the Zambian Standard – ZS 430: Clear Beer Specification and the Compulsory Standards Act No. 3 of 2017.
ZCSA Communications and Public Relations Manger, Brian Hatyoka, says the agency has since restricted the products pending disposal, in a bid to protect consumers, as provided for by the Compulsory Standards Act.
“ZCSA warns of punitive actions against entities supplying non-compliant products on the market as such products pose a risk to public health and safety”, said Mr. Hatyoka in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Mr. Haytoka has therefore urged the public to be vigilant and inform ZCSA upon encountering any suspicious products covered by compulsory standards to the nearest ZCSA office.
Meanwhile, the Agency has also disposed off 1,610 cases of non-compliant packaged Royal Sachet Water which were seized from the Precision Royal Beverages Limited factory last year following the conclusion of administrative processes.
