ZANAMACA CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE ESTABLISHMENT OF MARKET BOARDS

Zambia National Marketers Credit Association (ZANAMACA) President, Mupila Kameya, has urged government to immediately establish market boards across the country, citing their importance in driving infrastructure development within local markets.

Mr. Kameya said the absence of functioning boards is negatively affecting progress in improving market infrastructure.

He said this in Lusaka today when he featured on Christian Voices Chatback Program on the topic “Welfare of Marketers Across the Country”.

“The councils are doing a commendable job in revenue collection, but market boards are essential as they play a critical role in advising councils on how to reinvest that revenue back into the markets,” said Mr. Kameya.

He said that the board must constitute of associations that support the welfare of marketeers.

Mr. Kameya warned that continued delays in establishing these boards would lead to stagnation and minimal development in markets across the country.
