The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has called on all pharmaceutical and allied product stakeholders to ensure their products are registered with the Authority before placing them on the market.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, ZAMRA Director for Marketing Authorization, Lyoko Nyambe, has emphasized the critical importance of product registration as a vital step in protecting public health.
“Unregistered medicines and health products present serious risks to consumer safety and compromise the integrity of the national healthcare system,” said Mr. Nyambe.
Mr. Nyambe has also highlighted that the product registration process has been simplified and digitized to make it more accessible to all stakeholders.
Mr. Nyambe reiterated that ZAMRA’s core responsibility is to ensure that all medicines and allied substances available in the market meet quality standards.
He also issued a warning that non-compliance with regulatory requirements could lead to enforcement actions, including legal penalties.
