The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority ZAMRA has cautioned the general public against the mis-use of bleaching creams that are medicinal in nature.
ZAMRA Public Relations Officer, Lister Mutukwa, says ZAMRA has noticed with concern the mis-use of lightening creams among members of the public that she said, causes cancerous disease.
Mrs. Mutukwa said this in Lusaka today when she featured on Christian Voice’s Chatback program on the topic, “regulation of cosmetics,”.
“There some creams that are meant to get rid of rush but it is unfortunate that some people use them for lightening their skins,” said Mrs. Mutukwa.
Mrs. Mutukwa emphasized that these creams contain active pharmaceutical ingredients, which, if misused, can disrupt the skin’s natural processes and pose serious health risks.
