ZAMMSA RESUMES NATIONWIDE HEALTH COMMODITY DISTRIBUTION

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has commenced distribution of the health commodities that were marooned at a private depot in Makeni to health facilities across the country.

This follows the procedural submission of samples to the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) for quality assurance tests of which ZAMMSA has, since, received Certificate of Analysis results for 102 products that have so far been tested by the Authority.

ZAMMSA Senior Manager-Corporate Communications, Bradley Chingobe told RCV News in statement that the results from ZAMRA clearly indicate that all the 102 products, tested from the marooned containers, have been found to be compliant, safe for distribution and subsequent consumption by members of the public.

“It must be stated that the testing of the remaining products is actively ongoing by ZAMRA and the public will be informed once the results have been made available,” said Mr. Chingobe.

Mr. Chingobe said ZAMMSA is gratified that the commodities tested so far all meet the safety and efficacy standards, confirming their suitability for distribution.

He has appreciated the patience of stakeholders and the public during the process and assured of ZAMMSA’s committment towards maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical safety and compliance.
