ZAMBIA’S EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY NOT INDEPENDENT-TPAZ

Timber Producers Association of Zambia (TPAZ) president, Charles Masange, says it is unfortunate that Zambia will be turning 60 years of independence next month, without citizens attaining independence in the exploration of the extractive industry.

Mr. Masange’s comments follows a 3 year ban on Mukula trading in Zambia, despite calls for government to lift the ban.

He told RCV News in Lusaka that it is sad that Zambians are unable to make independent decision on God given natural resources.

Mr. Masenge said Mukula is currently being destroyed by bush fires in Mporokoso and other parts of the country.

“We have talked but nobody listens. It is more like there is no Ministry responsible for such issues,” said Mr. Masange.

He reiterated calls for government to lift the ban on Mukula trading for people to make income out of it.
