Government says it is working to improve access to safe water, sanitation facilities, and promote good hygiene practices to combat the ongoing cholera outbreak in the country.
This includes sinking boreholes in areas of need, waste collection and safe disposal from affected areas and the community and provision of water storage facilities to affected areas for water storage.
Speaking when he updated the National Assembly on events threatening the public health security of the country in his Ministerial statement today, Dr. Muchima said the country has recorded a total of 286 confirmed cases since the outbreak, with the cumulative number of 8 Brought in Dead (BID).
Dr. Muchima said in response to the development, government promptly activated its emergency response mechanism to manage the situation effectively.

Dr. Muchima has implored the public to adhere to public health preventive measures and guidelines that are being given by the Ministry including drinking clean and safe water, maintaining sanitation standards and avoiding contaminated environments.
