Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, says the media sector has been added on the list of the sectors that have been badly impacted by the drought situation.
Mr. Mweetwa, who is also the Minister of Information and Media has therefore assured that his ministry will table proposals before cabinet, for media stimulus packages, to mitigate the impact of drought among media houses.
Speaking at a Press Briefing, after meeting the Media Owners in Lusaka today, Mr. Mweetwa said he is hopeful that cabinet will give considerable response to proposals aimed to helping the media.
He said government is aware about the vital role the media plays hence the need to cushion the impact of the drought in their operations.
“ We also want to take the opportunity to ask Media Owners to consider providing space to coverage containing governmental measures to drought situation,” said Mr. Mweetwa.
And Mr. Mweetwa said President Hakainde Hichilema has guided that media houses being invited to governmental activities is balanced with private media.
