ZAMBIAN BUSINESSES URGED TO INVEST IN BURUNDI

Burundian President, Evariste Ndayishimiye, has called for intensified efforts to promote trade between Zambia and Burundi to grow the economies of both countries.

Mr. Ndayishimiye, who is in the country to grace Zambia’s 96th Agricultural and Commercial Show, was speaking this morning, when he addressed the Zambian National Assembly.

President Ndayishimiye invited Zambian businesses to invest in various sectors of the Burundian economy, saying Burundi is a virgin in various business opportunities.

“The signing of MoUs during this visit will open new doors to diversify cooperation and friendship in various sectors,” said Mr. Ndayishimiye.

Mr. Ndayishimiye also said both Zambia and Burundi are endowed with abundant human and natural resources that can contributing to freeing from the shackles of poverty, joblessness and inequality.

He said there is therefore a need to engage more in cooperation in areas of Agriculture, mining, defence and security and social and humanitarian affairs, among others.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ndayishimiye appreciated Zambia’s contribution in bringing peace and stability to the Democratic Republic of Congo, through SADC efforts.
