ZAMBIA URGED TO HARNESS GREEN METAL POTENTIAL

Energy Expert, Boniface Zulu, has called on Zambia to capitalize its vast reserves of green metals to support the global shift towards renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs).

Mr. Zulu says the demand for green metals like copper, coal, nickel and lithium are likely to increase value on the global market as the world transitions to clean energy and electrification in the transportation sector.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Zulu emphasized that as the world accelerates its transition to sustainable energy solutions, Zambia stands in a strategic position to benefit significantly.

“The global market for green metals is set to expand rapidly and to seize this opportunity, Zambia must invest in local processing and refining facilities to add value to its minerals,” said Mr. Zulu

He further stressed the importance of addressing key factors to strengthen Zambia’s competitiveness in the global green economy such as  the adoption of efficient mining technologies, development of a skilled workforce, creation of investment incentives, improved access to international markets, and the establishment of robust regulatory frameworks
