ZAMBIA URGED TO ALIGN CDF SUPPORT TO SGDS

Born Short Living Tall, has called on government to expediate the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by integrating them in the existing Development Plans of the country.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are targets for global development that were adopted in 2015, where all countries agreed to work towards achieving them by 2030.

Organization President Ntalasha Chisha says government should prioritize projects aligned with SDGs when disbursing the Constituency Development Funds CDF, especially for rural communities.

“It is essential for the government to recognize that the SDGs are not just aspirational targets, but tangible guidelines that can inform policy decisions, resource allocation, and development strategies at all levels,” said Mr. Chisha in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Chisha has therefore appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to appoint a special commission and facilitate the integration of the SDGs into a comprehensive national action plan.

He said Zambia can take a leaf from countries like Germany and Ghana, that have launched councils and platforms on sustainable development issues, that advises and participates in the integration of the goals for national development.
