ZAMBIA, QATAR SIGN $19 BILLION EXECUTIVE AGREEMENT

Zambia and Qatar have signed a binding Agreement following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded on Monday, covering 11 key areas of cooperation valued at $19 billion.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, said the agreements mark the culmination of government’s sustained engagements with international partners.

“President Hakainde Hichilema has always emphasized that Zambia has two foreign pillars of economic diplomacy for development,” said Mr. Haimbe.

He stressed that the agreement demonstrates government’s commitment to driving Zambia’s economic transformation through strategic international cooperation.

The signing, between Al Mansour Holding of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was witnessed by senior government officials, including Solicitor General Marshal Muchende, alongside executives from Al Mansour Holding.

Meanwhile, Al Mansour Holding Chairperson, Nidal Ammache, said the agreements reflect the strong relations between Zambia and Qatar, adding that more collaborative ventures are expected in the near future.

And, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Bradley Leahey, described the visit to Zambia as historic, noting that the partnership will unlock opportunities in infrastructure development, skills training, education, and other sectors of mutual benefit.
