ZAMBIA CALLS ON CENTRAL CORRIDOR MEMBER STATES TO FORGE LINKS

Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali has called upon the Central Corridor Member States and the Secretariat to work together at resolving challenges that impede on the smooth movement of cargo and people among the countries.

Mr. Tayali says the Zambian Government is working tirelessly at improving transport infrastructure for Roads, Railways, Aviation, Dry Ports and Boarder Posts.

He was speaking in Lubumbashi DRC during the 13th Ordinary Inter-State Council of Ministers Meeting for the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency in Lubumbashi.

“There is need to enhance on collaboration with all key stakeholders in the transport sector at resolving the challenges, and member states should work towards setting up a robust monitoring and evaluation system in order to measure progress,” said Mr. Tayali in  a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today,  by Ministry of Transport and logistics Public Relations officer Ndubi Mvula.

He said that it is through such fora that countries are able to engage each other constructively by discussing and finding solutions to the numerous challenges and bottlenecks being faced as the Corridor Member States.

The corridor member states include Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Rwanda Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
