ZAFOD URGES GOV’T TO INCORPORATE AI FOR THE DISABLED

The Zambia Federation of Disability Organization (ZAFOD) has urged government to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the education curriculum for people living with disabilities.

ZAFOD program officer, Steven Phiri, says the integration of AI into the education curriculum has the potential to enhance engagement among disabled learners.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Phiri has however stressed the need to address the challenges that hinder the smooth implementation of AI in schools such as infrastructure and internet connectivity, particularly  in rural areas.

“Teachers also need advanced training to accommodate AI teaching tools into their teaching practice, and it can also increase independence among the learners that will require less assistance with instructions,” said Mr. Phiri.

He has since urged stakeholders to collaborate with government on the implementation of AI and ensure the disabled are included.
